Approved by the Ningbo Science and Technology Bureau in July 1997, the laboratory established the “Ningbo Center for Transfer of Technologies Invigorating Marine Industry” and was promoted to a key laboratory in Zhejiang Province in 2000. After investing RMB 10.385 million in succession, the key laboratory passed the acceptance organized by the Ningbo Science and Technology Bureau and the Zhejiang Science and Technology Department in 2000 and 2002, respectively. The laboratory mainly conducts research and technology promotion in four aspects: research on algae biotechnology and marine bioactive substances, marine aquaculture biotechnology and new variety development, research and development of marine genetic resources, and ecological functions of marine and environmental protection. The laboratory ranks among the top in various provincial- and city-level laboratory evaluations.
