个人简介:

Professor Douglas Tocher has a BSc (1979) and PhD (1982) in Biochemistry from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. He worked for 16 years for the UK Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) at the Institute of Marine Biochemistry, Aberdeen (1982-1986) and the Unit of Aquatic Biochemistry, University of Stirling (1986-1998). His main research interests during this period were fish lipid and fatty acid metabolism including embryonic and early larval development, and cell culture studies on eicosanoid metabolism, polyunsaturated fatty acid synthesis and neural development. In 1998 he joined the Institute of Aquaculture, School of Natural Sciences, University of Stirling as senior lecturer and was awarded his personal chair in 2009. His current primary research interests are the molecular biology and genetic basis of regulation of lipid and fatty acid metabolism and nutrition in fish, with particular focus on omega-3 (n-3) long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LC-PUFA). He is currently PI of a BBSRC project on the development and application of novel plant oilseeds enriched in omega-3 LC-PUFA to support sustainable development of aquaculture. Professor Tocher has co-authored over 350 scientific publications. He is a member of the European Federation for the Science and Technology of Lipids (EuroFed), American Oil Chemists Society (AOCS) and the European Aquaculture Society (EAS), and the editorial boards of the journals Aquaculture and Fish Physiology and Biochemistry.

Dr. Juan Carlos Navarro, all his scientific activity has been devoted to the study of the lipid biochemistry of aquatic organisms, with special emphasis to Aquaculture. His doctorate studies, dealing with the nutritional value of the Spanish Artemia strains awarded with the Extraordinary Doctorate Award from the Universidad de Valencia, and the Award to the best thesis in Science from the Spanish Royal Academy of Doctors. He was a predoctoral fellow for nearly 1 year at the Department of Food Science and Nutrition (University of Rhode Island, USA) under the supervision of Prof. K. L. Simpson, and a postdoctoral researcher for 2 years at the NERC Unit of Aquatic Biochemistry at Stirling University where he had the chance to work with renowned lipid biochemists under the supervision of Prof. John Sargent. He has been a visitor at University of Swansea (UK), “Universidad Politécnica del Litoral (ESPOL)” (Ecuador), and “Universidad de Puerto Montt” (Chile), and has collaborated with researchers from many others (Tunis, Algeria, México, Portugal…). Since 1992 to present, he works at IATS, having been the Director of the Institute from 2011 to 2015. Currently (since 2011) he is also the head of the Associated Unit on Marine Toxicology in association with the University Jaume I of Castellón.In addition to his research, Dr. Navarro has been the academic coordinator of IATS in the Interuniversitary Master of Aquaculture from the University of Valencia and Polytechnic University of Valencia (2006-2018). He is a member of the Doctorate Programme in Aquaculture at the University of Puerto Montt (Chile). With a Index of 31 according to the Web of Science, Dr. Navarro has authored 118 indexed works, 105 of which have been cited. 2935 citations with an average of 27.95 citations per article. He has supervised 3 Ph D. theses (plus 3 currently in execution), 2 Master theses, and other graduate and tuition works during the last 10 years. He has also been the supervisor of 2 post-doctoral researchers. Additionally, Dr. Navarro has co-authored 148 contributions in scientific congresses and meetings, and participates frequently in informative and pedagogic talks and seminars.Dr. Navarro has participated in 56 research grants from competitive programmes covering different areas within aquaculture nutrition and lipid biochemistry.Dr. Navarro is a regular Referee of scientific journals, and has been an appointed Referee of the Spanish Science and Innovation Ministry and EU programs.

Dr. Oscar Monroig is a Tenured Scientist at the Instituto de Acuicultura Torre de Sal, Spanish National Research Council, Spain, where he also completed his PhD in 2006. Oscar has also worked extensively at Institute of Aquaculture, University of Stirling, UK, both as postdoc and lecturer. Óscar has co-authored 70 papers in the field of lipid nutrition and biochemistry of aquatic animals, and currently serves as Associate Editor in Fish Physiology and Biochemistry and Frontiers in Aquatic Physiology. His research focusses on the study of molecular mechanisms involved in the biosynthesis of essential fatty acids and their implications in nutrition of farmed aquatic species.
